Default Packers: Clifton Agree To 3 Year Deal

Quote:

The Green Bay Packers re-signed left tackle Chad Clifton to a three-year, $20 million contract, NFL Network's Michael Lombardi reported Friday.

Clifton, an unrestricted free-agent, had been scheduled to visit the Washington Redskins, but it wasn't clear whether such a meeting took place. A 10-year NFL veteran, Clifton has started 138 of 143 games for the Packers since they drafted him in the second round in 2000.

In other moves, the Packers released safety Matt Giordano and defensive end Michael Montgomery.

Giordano, who was cut by the Indianapolis Colts last September after four seasons with the team, was signed by the Packers a few weeks later to provide depth in the wake of injuries. He appeared in five games.

Montgomery, a sixth-round selection in the 2005 draft, appeared in 56 games over the course of five seasons with Green Bay. He started eight games in 2008.

This was a MUST for the Pack. If he had left, their LT spot woulda been a HUGE question mark going into next season and we all saw how bad they were when Clifton was out, they could not block for shit. Now they can focus on making signing elsewhere.
