The Brewers have officially announced their signing of free agent lefty Randy Wolf to a three-year deal with a club option for 2013. As I reported last week, the deal is worth $29.75 million guaranteed.
The Brewers are introducting Wolf to local media today at 3 p.m. at Miller Park. Here is a statement from GM Doug Melvin:
"With the success that Randy has had over the last two years, we believe that he will provide us quality innings and starts. "His experience, passion to win and wanting to be a Brewer fit the criteria in what we were looking for to improve our pitching staff."
Wolf, 33, went 11-7 with a 3.23 ERA in a career-high 34 starts with the Dodgers last season. He produced a career-high 24 quality starts, tying Cliff Lee for the most of any lefthander in the majors. He held opponents to a .227 batting average, which ranked eighth in the NL and marked his lowest since 2002 (.223).
