Chris Kaman has drawn interest from three teams, all offering between $6 to $8 million with varied years and scoring roles. The seven foot center's steady production seems to be a need of these teams to boost up their rosters. He has yet to decide conclusively though, but expects to make a decision soon.

With Chris Kaman, Gerald Wallace and David Lee on board, the Grizzlies are set to sign Derrick Rose, who's been impressed by their committment to provide him with strong supporting players. Rose will be the latest of several Eastern Conference point guards moving to the extremely competitve West. No word has been heard out of New Jersey or Chicago.

With Deron Willliams expected to sign with the Nuggets, not many game-changing free agents remain available. Most teams are now filling in holes in their depth charts with the remaining crop.

Default Midwest Division prepares to charge back into the playoffs

One year removed from having only one team participate in the playoffs, the Midwest Division made a lot of noise in the offseason hoping to prevent another debacle. The Grizzlies used their abundance of cap space and draft picks to reel in David Lee from the Warriors as well as sign a TON of quality free agents – most notably Derrick Rose, Gerald Wallace, and Chris Kaman. These drastic moves immediately make them the favourites to win the division. In response to Rose’s arrival, the Nuggets pick up free agent point guard Deron Williams, as well as Tim Duncan and OJ Mayo while also bringing back young Arron Afllalo. The Rockets try to stay in the playoff picture by re-signing key reserve Goran Dragic and acquiring veteran free agents Steve Nash and Marcus Camby. And even with the departure of stars Dirk Nowitzki and Rudy Gay, the Mavericks aim to remain competitive by trading for rising star John Wall and Kendrick Perkins. While the Midwest Division may not be able to flip the table on the Pacific Division by all making the playoffs, they have definitely made it harder to get almost shut out of it again like in 2011.

Dwight Howard's carried the Magic to the league's best record early on, but will he be traded later this season so the Magic can rebuild? On the last year of his contract, Howard's been wanting to move to a big city and would likely bolt upon free agency, and if the early good start turns out to be a fluke, he may be wanting to move sooner than expected.

Behind their 4 big off-season acquisitions, the Grizzles have raced out to a 24-8 start, tops in the league. Derrick Rose is pleased to have signed in Memphis and its excellent supporting cast of players.

The Celtics have noticeably improved from last season's bad effort, led by youngsters Greg Oden, Rodney Purvis, JaJuan Johnson and newly acquired Marshon Brooks. Currently they hold the East's 7th spot.

The Knicks, holding the second-worst record in the East, hope they can reverse their trend of bad luck, having a many, many close losses over their first half.

Kevin Durant is averaging over 32 points a game, but isn't getting much help from his team, as the Thunder sit outside the playoff picture.

The new look Mavericks have been getting a well-balanced attack of scoring from many players, as they sit over .500 and in the playoffs. Stephen Jackson though, has been rumored to be causing a stir by not getting much playing time.

One wonders how good the Bulls would be, 19-18 right now, if Rose had re-signed with them...
