i just wanna know how Philly gets away with trading their trash prospects for such good players
Yeah um, these two aren't trash prospects. If the Mets had gotten ONE of Cosart or Singleton for Beltran, you'd be THRILLED.
Probably. To get Singleton and Cosart, AND two more players for Hunter Pence, who's not that great, the Phillies overpaid.
Wheeler for Beltran was probably a fair trade, since the Giants needed a bat. But the Phillies have basically drowned out their entire farm system. I don't like this trade that much for the Phillies.
They are ranked high, the 4 players they gave up, but baseball is a tought sport to get into like basketball, althought there is a much greater likelihood for baseball. And with the phillies having been good for so long these prospects are good but are they great? probably not...now i'm not certain its just skepticism
I do think the Phillies overpaid though no doubt
They're good prospects. You can say they're two of the three best Philly prospects. Prospects are cool, I just don't think Pence is that good and he's gonna get paid big next year.
I dont think any prospects the phillies get up are really going to pay off in the long run for the Astros though, just from what i see.
I'm indifferent about this deal. On one hand, the Phillies got themselves a very good young RF for at least the next 2 years and kept their good young OF in Brown but on the other hand they traded two REALLY good young prospects to get him.
While they needed an OF, SS is gonna more than likely be an even bigger hole for them next year and they probably coulda used one or both of those prospects to fill the hole (baring Rollins coming back).
I get the thinking trading both since they have 4 #1 SPs right now and a few good young SPs too and they have Howard set up at 1B for the next 5 years or so but its all really gonna depend on how Singleton and Cosart turn out and how the Phillies SPs and Howard hold up over the next couple of years
