Brandon Roy To Retire

Brandon Roy plans to retire because of degenerative knees, according to two sources.
Roy was evaluated this week by doctors.
“You can’t do this,” the doctor told Roy, according to one of the sources. “You might end up not walking.”
One of the sources described Roy as very “emotional” and said he needed “time to rest”.
In a surprise announcement on Monday, the Blazers said that they intended to not use their amnesty clause on Roy and that he would enter training camp as starting shooting guard.

it's good he retired, instead of forcing the Blazers to amensity him, I have a feeling the FO had something to do with this.

Ditto, I found it odd that the Blazers didn't amnesty him while claiming he would be their starting SG upon opening day and then seeing this a day after. Then there was the whole Darius Miles thing before as well, I think it's a way to keep high PR in Portland, a poorly designed stunt that is easily see-through though.
